  3. Design with a Conscience: Why Our 'No End of Life' Pots Won Gold
01 self-watering pot (HomeLeisure WaterSaver Traditional Rectangle 680mm Blue)
We often think of design as just aesthetics—how a pot looks on your balcony or how a tub fits in your cupboard. But true design excellence goes deeper. It solves problems.
We are incredibly proud to announce that our “No End of Life”® Pots have been recognised in the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards, receiving a prestigious Good Design Award Winner Accolade in the Design Strategy category.
This isn’t just a win for us; it’s a win for the circular economy and every Australian gardener who wants to grow a greener future.

Waste Without a Home

For years, plastic waste has been a significant landfill and pollution problem. As gardeners, we love nature, yet the industry has often relied on materials that eventually end up in the bin. We knew there had to be a better way.

A New Life for Landfill

Our “No End of Life” range was designed with a clear goal: waste that was previously a problem now has a new life.

  • 100% Recycled: These planters are made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polypropylene.
  • Local Impact: The range is commissioned by Home Leisure and made right here in Melbourne.
  • Accessible: Sustainability shouldn’t be hard to find—these are sold through Bunnings Warehouse and Aldi.

Why the Good Design Award Matters

The Australian Good Design Awards are the country’s oldest and most prestigious awards for design and innovation, with a history dating back to 1958. The entries are evaluated by more than 70 Australian and international jurors, including architects, engineers, and designers.
The Jury commented specifically on our strategy:

“The team should be commended on how they were able to design a clear value proposition, anchored in the circular economy and a challenge to ensure every aspect of their value chain met the same standard.”

Beyond the Badge

As Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia, noted, this award is a “valuable independent endorsement of professional design quality”.
It tells the world that this project surpasses the criteria for design innovation and design impact. It proves that you don’t have to choose between sustainability and style. You can have a thriving, beautiful garden that actively reduces waste.
